Sculptra ® Aesthetic gets to the root of the problem of facial aging by replacing volume and stimulating collagen production. As your face gradually takes on a more youthful contour, you look younger and healthier without a sudden change or significant downtime.
Sculptra® Aesthetic is Poly-L-lactic acid, and is an injectable designed to stimulate your own natural collagen growth. It is FDA approved to last over two years and has been used safely for several years in the US and Europe.
Sculptra works differently than other injectable fillers. Injectable fillers typically address individual lines and wrinkles; whereas, Sculptra addresses the facial volume lost due to aging and loss of collagen. Some patients prefer the gradual improvement seen with Sculptra as it restores a more youthful look and contour to the face. Two or three treatments are scheduled initially to achieve initial results and then maintenance treatments as needed.
Many women and men are good candidates for Sculptra. Whether you are just starting to fight the aging process in your late 30’s or early 40’s, you desire lift and volume replacement as you strive to look competitive in the job market in your 50’s, or you want to look as good as you feel in retirement, Sculptra may be a great tool in your facial rejuvenation plan. It is particularly helpful for those patients with thin faces and very fit bodies or those who seem to metabolize other types of injectable fillers quickly. It is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women, smokers, patients in poor overall health, or those who have had a prior allergic reaction to Sculptra.
During your consultation with Dr. Vessely, she will estimate the amount of Sculptra and the number of treatments needed to achieve your cosmetic goals. Because Sculptra is an injectable treatment, there is a risk of bruising and swelling that can be minimized by avoiding aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E and other blood thinners for 1-2 weeks prior to your treatment.
